Dh just called to say I am to go to Madison for lunch….as in Alabama, not my daughter. It seems he’s being awarded the highest civilian medal our government gives for service to his country for his time in Kuwait and Iraq. His boss and his bosses boss have flown in for a retirement event for someone else in the office and the retiree has requested the award be given during this time.
How kind is that to want to share your day of honor and celebration to allow a younger coworker to be honored too!
Now beside the obvious giggly excitement I am for dear husband’s recognition (and in my opinion so well deserved!)….this also means…..ta dah………I cannot continue the afternoon laundry party I had planned for me and my front loader(I’m sure you feel the disappointment from there)…..all legally excused as I dine on wonderful Chinese food in Madison! Now it just doesn’t get much better than that….Husband appreciated, Daughter thrilled and Me excused from laundry……
….at least until tomorrow when Mt Washmore will greet me upon waking.
Edit at 2:17 pm. It was an excellent experience to see my husband recognized in front of his boss and peers for notorious service for our country! This is the framed medal they gave him with his award and he was also given a gold version of the medal as a tie tac. I am very proud of him and will share the official picture later when he gets home with his camera…this is the award I brought home.
